Tradefacilitate joins PEPPOL, 9th February 2012

Brian Hayes, Minister of State for Public Service Reform and the Office of Public Works announced today that the Irish Government has joined the Pan-European Public Procurement Online (PEPPOL) project within the public sector. Ireland will be joining 11 other European Member States who have already completed the PEPPOL pilot (Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy Norway, Portugal, Sweden and the UK). PEPPOL will enable businesses to communicate electronically with public buyers in various stages of the procurement process. The aim of PEPPOL is to expand market connectivity and interoperability between businesses (especially SME's) and the public sector across Europe. This project could result in direct savings of €240 million per annum for Irish government and Irish businesses by moving to electronic invoicing. |

Tradefacilitate are one of seven Service Providers (SP) working on the PEPPOL project in Ireland today. However, Tradefacilitate stand alone as the only SP that can provide a full trading service to customers. While savings have been estimated in the range of €240 million per year in Ireland for electronic invoicing, the full paperfree trading service offered by Tradefacilitate can yield billions of euro savings per annum. Tradefacilitate have partnered with Enterprise Ireland to complete the PEPPOL project in Ireland. In a statement after the launch, Brian Butler, Director of Corporate Governance for Tradefacilitate and responsible for the PEPPOL pilot in Tradefacilitate said; "PEPPOL is an excellent initiative by the Irish government to realise huge savings and keep our SME's competitive around Europe. Irish SME's will have access to vast public procurement markets that have been inaccessible up until now. Electronic invoicing is the first step towards billions in savings for Irish businesses which could be realised through Tradefacilitate's full electronic trading service.
